We pursue environmental sustainability and social responsibility Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) measures at Atlan Chambers. We are mindful of our carbon footprint and the reality of climate change so we encourage full use of e-justice and e-practice to limit our contribution to deforestation. The Supreme Court of Benin Republic grounds has a tree planted by our partners. We recycle paper by using them for rough drafts where necessary. Our policies require minimal energy use and we enforce a lights-off policy in unoccupied rooms. Machines that are not in use must be switched off at Atlan Chambers.
On the social angle, our partners have to take at least one probono case per year or perform other acts for the poor and underserved in the society. Our firm offers pro bono service through the Law Society of Benin Republic. We also offer pro bono service through the TrustLaw (Thompson Reuters Foundation) network facilitating legal assistance and research for frontline human rights organisations around the world and in Benin Republic. Our partners contribute to fundraising for underprivileged students at the Benin Republic School of Law while mentoring younger lawyers at various stages of their career. Besides the firm initiatives, we encourage our partners to contribute to charitable causes within their communities. Atlan Chambers willingly leads and helps other lawfirms to troubleshoot legal issues on request.
